With one degree in journalism and another in cultural anthropology from the University of Maryland, College Park, my childhood goal was to land somewhere between Lois Lane and Indiana Jones. (So far, so good.)

My 20-year writing career has spanned several genres, with stints as a newspaper editor, book reviewer, speechwriter, marketing consultant and novelist.

Originally from Maryland and currently in Austin, I daydream about retiring to a haunted Scottish castle with a herd of Great Danes and a library of books.
